It’s Time …

It’s time to start thinking about and planning the summer.

This is a bit frustrating as I really just want to enjoy the (not so cold) winter and spring. But… some things just won’t wait. Those things are showing up in our email inbox, in texts from grandparents and in our jobs. With all the things begging for our attention, how can we give careful thought to how we will schedule our summer?

Make Their Summer Matter

Our kids are given thirteen(ish) free weeks. If you are like most parents, you want to invest them wisely. As parents, we desire greatly to have a good and healthy balance of summer activities for our kids. We may even stress and overextend ourselves making sure that the summer ahead is just right.

If the above causes you to nod your head or heart in agreement or even makes you a bit anxious as you haven’t begun, please know this: you rock. The fact that you are even considering what will make a good and balanced summer is quite amazing. As far as I am concerned, you can put your feet up and stop right there. You care about your kid’s experiences and growth and that heart beat will carry them far. Even if they have the most boring summer ever… they know you care. And to that I say, “Thank you” (I will say it to you …well, because they probably won’t).

Summer is three months in the process of shaping our kids into the adults we desire them to be.

If we take the to do’s and the expectations out of the equation of “the perfectly prioritized summer”, it really is quite simple. Our kids’ summer weeks are simply part of the big picture of raising them well. The bonus is that the summer part of the big picture is just a bit more fun, relaxed and sun-baked. But, don’t lose sight… Summer is three months in the process of shaping our kiddos into the adults we desire them to be. We want our kids to grow into adults that are responsible, teachable and kind. We strive for them to become individuals that think out of their box and yet feel comfortable in their own skin. We desire our kids to do well with peers and really all those around them. We want them to be mentored well and in turn mentor others as well as have a healthy perspective and purpose in their lives.

Camp yields the growth we want for our kids.

A Place Like No Other

During the school year, church, service groups, teams and classes give consistent ways and opportunities for our kids’ growth. But the distractions of life are still with them. In the summer, we have the opportunity for kids to step out of their world, their normal, their home, their phones, and into a place where tremendous growth happens. Camp yields the growth we want for our kids. Camp provides an environment like no other for mentorship, learning, confidence building and growth. The truths learned by being in God’s Word, walking alongside our Coaches and having the experience on their own stick with kids far into their adult life. It is an investment that builds into the big picture we want for our children. And… they have a whole lot of fun doing it!

Camp is one of the most lasting, rewarding experiences parents can give their children. T Bar M Camps builds self-esteem and gives kids a sense of independence all while growing their faith.

Let's get to work!

I didn't know the value of good o manual labor until that first Training Camp at T Bar M in 1993, but it did set foundations that I continue to use today. The outcome of two hours of painting fences and moving rocks was quite more than two checks on the "to do" list. It […]

Never Give Up

They say a picture says a thousand words. And this one sure does. Paige (Nowlin) and Hudson High, lifetime campers as well as Coaches, would never have dreamed they would be standing in the T Bar M gym with their own kiddoes back when they were campers in the very same space.  Yet, there they were … […]
