What is the Value of a Spiritual Foundation?

?>

Community. We all need it. We all crave it. We are called to walk this life with our brothers and sisters in the Christ who will spur us on toward love and good deeds. Madi reminds us of the importance of helping our kids have a strong spiritual foundation as they grow up.

He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built. Luke 6:48

We are called to walk this life with our brothers and sisters in the Christ who will love and encourage us…more importantly point us to truth as we run head on through life together. As I reflect on my life thus far, I am over-joyed as I see the amazing communities the Lord has placed me in all seasons of my life.

Let’s focus on the value of our children having a spiritual foundation as they work towards building a community around them.

  1. Knowing their Worth. Our worth is in Christ and Him alone. We can know by having a strong spiritual foundation in the Lord, when trials and hardship comes our way (we all know they do!) we can say with more confidence that it is well with our soul! When our children know and believe the truth that their worth is found in the Lord and not in friendships, or relationships with peers, they can walk in freedom as they build, change and grow in friendships. As our kids navigate the waters of making new friends, they will be able to hold fast the knowledge that, above all, they are a daughter or son of the KING!
  2. They will crave a Godly Community. People will notice our children’s attitude and behavior when they have a strong spiritual foundation. Spending time getting to know God by reading His Word helps us radiate the love of God and people want to be around that! The right friends are going to love and appreciate that in our children. When friends come their way wanting to choose a path of unrighteousness, the spiritual foundation our children have built will be the support they need to walk away from temptation.
  3. God will use Them Greatly! We all have spiritual gifts the Lord has blessed each one of us with! The Lord rejoices when we use those gifts to glorify Him and encourage others. Our children will be able to use their gifts within their friendships and will be able to support, encourage and love on their friends in such beautiful ways. When we rest in God within our friendships and place our friends at His feet, God will use that greatly! Our children will continue to make a difference, small or large, in friendships if they rely on the Lord.

I hope we are all blessed to be walking in community that is based on our own spiritual foundation in the Lord, and I hope we help encourage and support our children as they work to make that a priority in their own life.
