Kara grew up as a camper here at T Bar M. It was the very place where she first experienced Jesus in a powerful and relational way. After serving as an All-Star and TC, her dreams finally came true as she fulfilled her first summer as a Coach out at Camp Travis in 2007, then again in 2008.
Camp Ministry was an element that Kara’s heart beat faster for, so she spent her first year after graduating from Texas A&M in a discipleship program at Pine Cove Camps in Tyler, TX. After that, Kara moved to Austin to join the staff of Hill Country Bible Church. In the spring of 2013, she followed God’s prompting to resign from her ‘dream job’ in order to go back to school. But as a result of some divine stirring and shuffling, instead of starting school, Kara returned to Camp Travis as the TC Director. It was in the midst of washing many camper’s dishes, that her eyes caught sight of her now husband, Jacob. The two dated, were engaged and got hitched within the next year.
Then, in the fall of 2014, the Lord brought Jacob and Kara back to T Bar M to launch a mobile day camp, Discover252. Kara loves the opportunity to travel with her husband as they do life alongside of college staff delivering camp to cities all across the state of Texas. In the non-summer months, Kara has found her knack in T Bar M’s Marketing Department, managing social media sites and writing blogs. She is passionate about using written word to cultivate the hope of Jesus to families and campers.
