“With upright heart he shepherded them and guided them with his skillful hand.” Psalms 78:72
The H&H … Heart and Hand … program is located on our Lake Travis property near Austin. This nine-month program allows an individual to intensely focus on their Spiritual Growth while learning trades and skills that they can use the rest of their lives. There are opportunities for participants to apply for leadership positions on our summer staff in which your duties with H&H would end in May.
BIBLE STUDY AND DISCIPLESHIP
We study the Word three times a week covering a variety of topics including; a verse by verse study of a book of the Bible, theology and doctrinal training, Biblical leadership and practical Christian living. We begin our day with our personal Bible Study. Throughout the week there will be times when we discuss homework and what God is teaching them.
The program involves facility and property management at Lake Travis and hosting/serving retreat guests predominantly on the weekends. You’ll learn a variety of trades; carpentry, electrical, plumbing, welding and even some project management. Work hours vary depending on the time of the year and weekend retreat groups (longer hours in early fall/late spring but Nov – Feb is more likely to average 40 per week). Fellowship at the Rudy house weekly will include home cooked meal by Beth and game night. We will take one day per month to get away and do something fun while incorporated fun into our daily work schedule.
We do not have our participants raise money for this program, instead we have a package compensation that includes the following:
Salary is $500.00 per month
Lodging, utilities and internet
Food stipend is $450.00 per month to be shared by two
Health insurance option
Some H&H clothing
H&H is a commitment to live life together while being discipled; however, there are many opportunities for participants to have time off to renew and refresh and connect with family and friends:
Long weekend for Thanksgiving
Two weeks for Christmas
One week for spring break TBD
