What to Expect
Before Camp
As the weekend nears, be on the lookout for emails that will guide you on camp preparation. These emails will contain packing lists and necessary details about your arrival. If there's anything you're unsure of, don't hesitate to call.
A note about ages: The majority of our campers are elementary-aged, but we have several teen campers who return each year who look forward to this weekend with their mother. We are attentive to providing teaching and activities appropriate for all ages, but don’t be surprised by the heavier attendance of elementary-aged girls!

2024 Family Camp Speakers
Connor is currently serving as the Lead Pastor at Onward Community Church in Frisco, TX. Here’s Connor’s story! God graciously gave me an amazing family. I was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma and became a believer at a young age. I made a lot of mistakes in my youth and found myself in trouble frequently through high school. I let myself live as the world told me to, but now I have fully tasted and seen that the LORD is good, and His ways are lifegiving. You could tell everything about me in high school and college by who I surrounded myself with. God used community in my life, starting after high school, to turn my life around. This is where I really became passionate about the Church and the importance of each of us living in the midst of God defined friendships, which we call community.Â
My family is what I consider my first and true ministry. I met my wife Ally in college at Oklahoma State University (go pokes), and we didn’t waste any time getting married after, nor did we wait to have kiddos. Scripture has proven true in that children are a blessing from the LORD.Â
John is currently serving as the Teaching Pastor at Watermark Community Church in Dallas, Texas. In 2011, John married Laura. They have three kiddos: Hill (10) Penny (8), Judd (6).Â
The Elmores love life together and the out of the ordinary – so road trips, vacations, really any experiences together as a family…and thus T Bar M is GOLD to them in this regard. Â
John says: We could not give TBarM a higher endorsement – it’s the perfect combination of fun, faith and family. You and your kids will play, laugh, pray, make memories, have intentional times, stretch yourself and leave closer to each other and God, filled-up on love and purpose, with a renewed vision for living a life of faith. Choose one week of your summer while your kids are still kids – for you and your family to be eternally impacted.Â
Adam Griffin is the Lead Pastor of Eastside Community Church in Dallas, Texas. He is the host of the Family Discipleship Podcast and the author of several books and resources for families. He is married to Chelsea and they have three sons – Oscar, Gus, and Theodore. Â
At the time of next camp, their sons will be 12, 10, and 8. Chelsea and Adam have been married for 13 years. Their family loves to watch sports together and root for the Aggies and Packers. Â
Fun fact: We are part owners of the Green Bay Packers. Â
Adam says: What I love most about camp is the connection we get to make with our kids and with other families who are delighted to follow Jesus. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to make memories with their kids and leave a week of time together
Ken currently serves as Lead Pastor at Heights Community Church and also owns a Residential Remodeling Company in San Antonio.  Ken & Rita have been married for 28 years, with 3 adult daughters and 2 granddaughters.  Â
Ken loves Golf, cooking on the Big Green Egg, and all things Baylor Bears!Â
Ken says: Family camp is such a powerful experience in the life of our family, not only do we bring our Church each summer, but we love it so much we come TWICE!  Establishing this tradition w/ our Grand-children is incredible, and we wouldn’t miss a single summer.  We schedule everything around Family Camp!Â
Michael Atmar serves as the Pastor of Family & Care at Seven Mile Road Houston. He is the proud husband of his wife, Erin, and father of his three sons, Case, Declan, and Tate, and his daughter, Ellis. Michael is passionate about discipleship, training leaders, and equipping God’s people to use their gifts for the work of ministry. Â
Michael attended the University of Texas at Austin and graduated with a degree in Finance. He also graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary with his master’s degree in Christian Leadership. In his free time, he enjoys playing basketball, running with Erin, eating Tex-Mex and Barbecue, and making new friends.
Chief a.k.a. Robert is currently serving as the Family Pastor at Oakwood Church in New Braunfels, Texas. Chief married his wife Kristen in 2005. Both Chief and Kristen have served as T Bar M summer coaches and leadership at Camp Travis and Chief also served as Men’s director at Camp Travis and as Senior Director of Camps. They have four kids: Hallie (14), Macey Jo (12), Benjamin (10), and Samuel (8) and a very fast and springy dog named Willa.Â
Chief and Kristen started dating at Camp Travis and three of their four kids spent their earliest childhood summers growing as camp kids living at Camp Travis. T Bar M is deeply rooted in their story and their hearts, and they are always looking for an opportunity to be back behind these gates.Â
Chief says: “T Bar M is one of those thin places where heaven meets earth, and you can experience a foretaste of what is to come. The people love you like family and spur you on in your pursuit of knowing and following Jesus better than anywhere we know.
