Full Send

Theme Verse
As you study the life and teaching of Jesus you quickly come to realize that Jesus was not interested in half-hearted followers. Consider some of His statements: When addressing the rich young ruler He said, “Then there’s only one thing left to do: Sell everything you own and give it away to the poor. You will have riches in heaven. Then come, follow me.” (Luke 18:22) “If you want to be my disciple, you must, by comparison, hate everyone else—your father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even your own life. Otherwise, you cannot be my disciple. (Luke 14:26) “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” Mark 8:34 “Still another said, “I will follow you, Lord; but first let me go back and say goodbye to my family.” Jesus replied, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.” (Luke 9:61-62)
Jesus’s call was a simple one, “Follow Me.” Much like Peter’s full abandonment of the boat to walk on the water with Jesus, we are called to forsake the world and fix our eyes on Jesus. The cultural meaning of the phrase, ‘FULL SEND’, is to do something full-throttle and with 100% commitment – even if you end up failing. FULL SEND at Camp this summer means going full-throttle and with 100% commitment to Jesus. We follow Him no matter what – where He goes, we go. After a long night of fishing with no success, Jesus finds these weary fishermen and asks to use their boat as a pulpit. After concluding His sermon, He then commands them to cast their nets one final time for a catch. Reluctantly they oblige and end up witnessing a haul of fish that can only be described as miraculous. Jesus then gives them the famous statement, ‘Now I will make you fishers of men.’ These future disciples give a FULL SEND response found in our theme verse. “So, they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed Him.” – Luke 5:11 The world may go FULL SEND and suffer the consequences because they are seeking internet immortality or to impress their peers. Per the norm, the world is always off base from call of Jesus. Jesus calls us to go FULL SEND, which may include unfavorable consequences. It certainly will involve our failure; however, the motivation is the increase of His name and fame, not our own. The disciples left everything and followed Him – FULL SEND. In 2022 we are going all in, we are leaving our nets, picking up our cross with hearts fully devoted. Our Savior gave it all and as His followers we will do no less. All Out. Until the End. FULL SEND.
